Streszczenie The beginning of the third decade of the 21st century was characterized by rapid changes in the course of the global economic situation. Lockdowns caused by the pandemic and galloping inflation were significant obstacles to maintaining uninterrupted economic growth. In the development of the world, economic crises and depressions usually mobilized entrepreneurs to implement technical progress faster. Decarbonization and further digitization fundamentally changed the conditions for further development of national economies, and they were a manifestation of a profound transformation of the world. The fuel and energy industry faced a great challenge. The popularization of the use of renewable energy meant the loss of existing market positions for this sector. The article will present and explain the activities of selected enterprises in the fuel and energy sector taken in order to maintain high income and prestige. The research hypothesis assumes that the main tool for achieving the basic goals was the policy of price discrimination. The monopolistic positions of fuel and energy companies facilitated such methods of operation.
