Streszczenie The subject of the article is the issue of the image of the lives of monks presented in selected Polish feature films. Cinema allows you to enter the interior of institutions and sacral buildings, usually inaccessible to people outside a given community. Orders have this type of character; life in monasteries, both nuns and monks, is very cinematic. Many cinematographers have created a lot of images showing the closed, hermetic world of life in monasteries, inaccessible to outsiders. Media image research is interdisciplinary. This study used the method of examining images, following the classic of American sociology, Erving Goffman's definition of a monastery as a total institution. An anthropological and morphological analysis was also used, considering elements of the film, such as its form(genre), time and place of action, the characters shown, and the monastery as an institution of seclusion.
