Abstract In the article, we focus on analyzing the way information is understood in communication processes, mainly from the perspective of the epistemic dimension. The primary point of reference in the study are real factual states, through which information gains a verifiable dimension for communication participants. In the perspective of digital information processing capabilities, there is a problem with indicating the real context of its creation and communicative functioning. This leads to the autonomization of information and becomes a cause for creating hyperreal digital constructions. In this situation, the participant of communication processes receives context-less information. This leads to a lack of orientation regarding the organization of the processes of functioning of media content and their relation to the real world.
