Abstract The article concentrates on the foundations of understanding ecology in realist philosophy. The main representatives of this proposal are A. Maryniarczyk and M. A. Krąpiec. They recognize that the concept of philosophical cognition inherent in realist philosophy, the reading of the nature of reality, the nature of man and his actions are all essential for building an ecological order of human activities focused on nature. Ecological philosophy (realistic metaphysics), ecological (enhanced) action and its source – ecological man with enhancements (virtues) – spring from ecological rationality, which has become well-ordered and prevailed over destruction by guiding the reading of the nature of things.
