Abstract Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine caused a change in the international order. The regional and global consequences of Russia's aggression prompt consideration of the European Union's adaptability to the new conditions of the security environment and in the foreign policy sphere. It is also a cause for reflection - what strategy should the European Union adopt in an era of radical global change? This article presents changes in the international space as a result of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the paper undertakes a brief analysis of the actions taken so far by the European Union in the face of new challenges and security threats and changes in the Community's defence capabilities. The paper also addresses the issue of the Eastern Partnership and its importance in creating a reality for the countries associated with the European Union.
