Abstract The use of modern digital technologies enabling real-time video and audio transmission has had a significant impact on the functioning of societies, including public administration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, court hearings conducted partly or completely remotely necessarily became a reality in many countries, and the possibility of remote hearing of parties to proceedings, which until recently was difficult for many to imagine and accept, is also widely used today, after the end of the pandemic. The aim of this article was to present the basic solutions of the Swedish judicial procedure concerning the possibility of using remote means of communication in proceedings before the ordinary courts.
