Abstract The article discusses the main features of Chinese civilization. For centuries, the culture of the Middle Kingdom was defined primarily by Confucianism. Today it is also influential, but the life and worldview of the Chinese are largely defined by socialism combined with many elements of the capitalist economy. Chinese civilization has existed continuously for several thousand years; China is the most populous country in the world, has a different culture from ours, but also as a result of globalization - it has adopted many patterns of Western life and is a challenge to the power of the USA; for these reasons it is worth studying China as a country and as a civilization.
