Abstract The article concerns the process of democratization of fame and hyperpresence of musicians for whom it becomes a strategy in the era of overproduction of one-season stars and celebrities. The article puts forward the thesis that obtaining the status of a star, including a music star, and the popularity that comes with it in the past was associated with tedious and hard work as well as numerous sacrifices that were associated with polishing one's talent. Currently, the status of a star is largely determined by media visibility, but also determined by the demotic turn, in which the audience decides who can be a star. The article distinguishes between the categories of star, idol and celebrity, and also presents the typology of idols.
