Abstract Threats have become a (differentiam specificam) in the contemporary life of individual and collective entities. The sources of the contemporary instability, liquidity and indeterminacy are worth looking for in in the progressive deficit of basic (ethical) values that are exemplified in the existence of individual and collective entities. In addition, there are changes in the nature of the context of these activities (existence). The normative context of reference has been replaced by the context of constant comparison and juxtaposition, which by no means leads to strengthening the sense of value and stability, but instead introduces a far-reaching freedom of interpretation, also in terms of basic values and an unambiguous assessment of their exemplification in the social reality. Contemporary reality implies the necessity of a new approach to research on the multidimensional nature of security (including security culture), the dynamics of changes or the diverse etiology of contemporary threats. The purpose of this article is to present the areas and mechanisms of the analysis and to draw attention to the existing deficits. I hope that the presented perspectives will prove useful for conducting analyzes in this field, formulating adequate recommendations and taking appropriate actions aimed at improving system solutions in terms of personnel and structure.
