Abstract In collective consciousness two facts seem to be indisputable. Firstly, the appearance of digital communication technology has significantly transformed the environment of humanlife and secondly, we can observe the growing interest in issues of identity which means that the question of who we are becomes very important if we would like to understand ourselves in our new reality. The communication „bias” of contemporary reality and the technology which shapes it has to be reflected in the ways in which we define ourselves, in the means of expression of self and in practices of self. If we assume that communication processes play such a significant role now, it seems to be reasonable to argue that in communication practices, which form contemporary culture, we can try to search for a particular kind of thinking about who we are, and the characteristics typical of media are reflected in the identity practices. In this paper the features of the digital interface of communication technology were used as a research category.
