Abstract This article contains the author’s thoughts on creating images of the world. The starting point is the assertion of the impossibility of constructing a complete image, but only fragmentary, incomplete one-dimensional images for different natural and social realities. Making their synthesis and generalizations transcends the human capabilities and is very improbable. Creating images of the world depends on many objective and subjective factors, primarilyn cultural – language, ideas, and beliefs. In the article remarks are made on the images of the world created by science, philosophy, religion and art. Each of them has certain deficiencies, and do not fulfill our expectations. According to the author, prospective images built on imagination, fantasy and ingenuity are more important than descriptive images, because they give impetus to the development of such a real world in the future, where one will live better than now
