Abstract In this article the author tries to justify the hypothesis that the deflation of responsibility increases proportionally to technological progress. He examines a number of issues related to the transformation of the actual responsibility into the potential one, the individual into the collective, the open into the anonymous, the concrete into the abstract, the direct into the indirect, the subjective into the objective, the real ino the illusory. He points also to the widespread phenomenon of responsibility to imaginary beings. This is all due to the desire to escape from responsibility and avoid penalty. But there is also an objective reason resulting from technological progress.
