Abstract The article describes the structural changes in the global economy in the period of rapid economic fluctuations 2008-2010. In this short time, East Asia, especially China, strengthened their competitive positions internationally. The key international corporations clearly changed their position in the market. The financial sector experienced a sharp decline in profits and turnover. The costs of instability in this sector were transferred to small businesses, employees and taxpayers. Many companies of key importance for the world economy improved their financial situation and strengthened their market position. This process was achieved through a rationalization of expenditures and labor costs reduction. As a result, the rapid enlargement of the financial surplus was accompanied by the reduction of wages in the value added distribution.
