Abstract Self – fulfilling prophecy is a well known phenomenon for economists. It is usually defined through a popular example known as a “run on banks". However, it is very hard to find any elaboration, where this subject is being studied precisely. An underlying purpose of this article is to fill this gap through a multidimensional attempt to deliver a proper definition of this phenomenon. This article also contains some indications about a possibility of identification of a self-fulfilling prophecies in an economical environment. The author suggests, that self fulfilling prophecies can appear even in social and economical theories, and that this should give rise to a broader discussion about the intricit nature of the social sciences.
