Abstract Virtual cities are involved in a postmodern audiovisual and multimedial culture. They also change some language categories such as: receiver and sender of an announcement. Virtual cities create an imitation of urban life in a cybernetic reality. The Virtual society transfers some real social features. There exist quite a lot of imitations of real life: digital homes for citizens, the broadcasting station, the city hall, the museum, the urban clinic or even the urban emblem. The phenomenon of virtual cities shows the split of the subject which is characteristic for the postmodern media. It creates a user’s attitude of telepresence. A virtual city seems to be a side effect of Netcommunication and is another new model of communication in Internet.
