Abstract Nowadays, the sound space turns out to be a wonderful tool used as a field of artistic and cultural activities. On the one hand, there are many movements to-wards conscious listening to the sound environment, such as organized sound walks. On the other hand, interest in the audiosphere appears not only in everyday life, but also in art. The sounds of everyday activities are the subject of artistic works, they are used in music pieces or sound installations. Can the interest in the sound space be considered a domain of the present, or maybe the beginnings of such movements in the world of culture, art and music should be sought earlier? In the article, I try to answer the above-mentioned questions while bringing closer concepts such as futurism, concrete music or acoustic ecology. Then, I focus on today's practices and activities around sound space initiated by cultural institutions and the artistic world. The article, in addition to its own observations supported by scientific knowledge, is enriched with the artists' statements, which were realized in 2019/2020 as part of the MA thesis: “Sound design. Cultural sound spaces”. Despite the passage of time, it seems that the issues and topics raised in the recalled interviews are still valid.
