ROAD SAFETY IN POLAND IN THE CONTEXT OF APPLICABLE LAW REGULATIONS

Abstract The article aims at presenting the current legal provisions that relate to reg-ulations affecting road safety in Poland. Selected legal acts regulating the issues of road safety were analysed and presented by the author of this work and the basic terms related to the analysed topic were discussed. Then, he drew attention to the real impact of the discussed regulations on safety in the space of road traffic. The author presented the results of actions taken by the Polish State to improve road safety, that were based on annual statistical data published by the Police Headquarters Bureau of Prevention and Road Traffic Prevention Department in Road Traffic. This data was compiled with the data published by the International Transport Fo-rum. Data for the period from 1990 to 2023 were analysed. The result of the author's work is presentation of spaces that require acting aimed at a more thorough examination of them to undertake further projects aimed at increasing the level of safety in the discussed area. The author used the method of literature criticism and analytical-synthetic in his analyses. The variables concerning: the number of road accidents and collisions, the amount of killed and injured people in road accidents, as well as the places of road accidents and the causes of their occurrence were used in the analysis.
