Abstract Networking becomes a universal feature of modern technical civilization. The development of new information and communication technologies affects the transformation of social ties, social structures, values, norms and principles functioning in the network society. New technologies and the ongoing process of digitization also affect the social space of cities. Technological development of urban space implies a number of changes with transformational traits. Development of metropolitan structures can be considered as an example of these effects of digitization. The author will answer questions about the dominant tendencies in the process of transformation urban space in network society.
