Abstract Processes related to the formation of the so-called Information society affects the transformation of social structure in highly developed countries. Alongside these processes, new social divisions and new areas of political conflicts are emerging. The arrival of the "third wave of civilisation" is the source of profound social change, and so provokes resistance and counter-mobilisation in the face of an upcoming "new social order". A special role in the contemporary civilisation transformation is played by the post-national revolution (denationalisation). Due to the fact that it touches two fundamental pillars of our social existence: the political institutions and the sphere of identity, it carries the greatest potential for political mobilisation and generates new lines of social and political conflicts.
