Abstract With the development of modern technologies, it is only natural to try to use them in order to improve the health care services. E-health can contribute i.a. to reduce the cost of health care, to increase the effect of treatment, to reduce the amount of medical errors and consequently to achieve more efficient spending of health care funds. The full use of e-health will only be possible in association with an active use of the Internet by the health care providers as well as by the health care beneficiaries. It may turn out that the reluctance and fear on the part of some users will make it impossible to fully exploit the performance of modern solutions. Proper protection of medical data in cyberspace is crucial, particularly since the potential access to the data is limited in neither space nor time. The aim of the study is to analyse the readiness of health care providers to implement new technologies in the health care sector and to identify the needs originating from the protection of sensitive data such as medical data of patients.
