Abstract The aim of the article is to show that changes in eating habits can be interpreted as a kind of social change. The author analyzes examples referring to Poland, a country where traditional approaches to food, nutrition and culinary practices are undergoing transition through the influence of media patterns, the process of globalization, as well as changes in patterns of consumption.
