Abstract Paweł Kukiz is a Polish musician, actor and newspaper columnist. He became famous for his psychedelic punk rock music pieces that were performed during the music festival in Jarocin. This city was the symbol of youthful rebelliousness in the eighties in Poland. Kukiz was also a lead singer in a popular Polish rock band called Piersi. In 2015, he was a candidate in the presidential elections. He was third with the result of 20.80% of votes. What is the phenomenon of Paweł Kukiz? Why did over 3 million of the Poles vote for this scandalous musician? The main research hypothesis in the article is the statement that the values propagated by Paweł Kukiz were the continuation of the values which had been formed in him by youth, mainly by youthful rebelliousness and the closeness to youth subcultures. The artist’s axiological system was characterized by contradictions and his ideal was democracy based on such values as: freedom, civic virtue, justice, patriotism and religion.
