Abstract Nanotechnologies belong to the major objectives of the contemporary conceptions of technology such as the theory of technoscience, the conception of technology assessment or the concept of converging technologies with nanotechnology recognized as the base and condition of the technological convergence (nano-bio-info). Hereby the presented to date analyses are focused on: 1) the theoretical, methodological and systematic dilemmas with regard to the process constituting nanotechnology as a new field of science and technology; 2) the models of risk assessment, the issues related with the precautionary principle and visions’ assessment; 3) the ethical dimension of nanotechnology concerning the safe and sustainable mass dissemination of nano-based products. The presented hereby analyses are aiming to design synthetically the research field devoted to the technological development, especially nanotechnology, basing on the key body literature elaborated in the last decade.
