Abstract Basing on the empirical examples, the paper presents the ability of Polish industry to uptake innovations, including their specific form- namely disruptive technologies that transform and amend the development. They constituted a direct cause for declaring bankruptcy by several Polish enterprises during the ownership transformations taking place in Poland after 1990. In this respect, the article discusses the concept, whether contemporary Poland has a chance to develop innovative, disruptive technologies and implement them into economy.
