Abstract Particularly favorable conditions for the development of knowledge management concepts has occurred in the 1990s. Market globalization, competitive technology, requirement for rapid response to change, change of approach to customers, shorter life of product, development of IT technologies, and numerous mergers and acquisitions cause that knowledge has grown to the status of being a significant resource. Since that time, the concept of knowledge management has become popular. More and more enterprises and organizations have started to initiate this. In this article the author focuses on the soft aspect of the problem and refers not only to knowledge resources in the context of the company as a whole, but also to aspects of individual employees. The author discusses the role of actors in the organization of knowledge which interpenetrate and complement each other. The author draws attention to the requirement and willingness of continuous learning, discussing the principles of double loop and its difficulties. This is a general reflection about barriers and advantages of the forementioned concept, all based on a detailed analysis of the literature.
