PARENTS' KNOWLEDGE OF THE CATEGORIES OF THEIR CHILDREN'S PERSONAL DATA PROCESSED IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES - ANALYSIS OF A SELECTED RESEARCH GROUP

Abstract The article is international in nature, as it raises the issue of new technologies used globally and the personal data of children who are their users. Thus, the publication has universal, cognitive and scientific value. The aim of this publication was to learn about the knowledge of parents of children aged 0 to 16, living in Warsaw (the capital of Polish), in the field of the categories of personal data of their children processed in new technologies. The following research questions were asked: What new technologies are used by the respondents' children? Do parents know what personal data of their children is processed in the new technologies used by their children? Can parents exchange their children's personal data that is pro-cessed in the new technologies used by their children? The following methods were used in the study: diagnostic survey, the "snowball" method and the questionnaire technique. Key findings: Parents' awareness of their children's personal data being processed in new technologies should be described as low. A large proportion of parents (106 respondents, i.e. 35.333%) were unable to name at least one piece of their children's personal data that is processed in new technologies. Entertainment content in the form of videos and games is the most popular among children, which shows their strong interest in digital entertainment. The high presence of children on social media was noted. Digital education is present in children's lives, but it is much less popular than games or films.
