Abstract This article explores the meanings of the term ‘glocalisation’ and issues related to its use. The semantic and pragmatic properties of this term are discussed against the backdrop of certain semiotic and methodological peculiarities of the humanities and social sciences, including the specific features of the conceptual apparatus used within these scientific fields and the meta-theoretical divisions that exist within them. The article indicates that the concept of glocalisation is related to two concepts of globalisation: economic globalisation and cultural globalisation,
