THE ORIGIN AND TRANSFORMATION OF MINISTRIES OF AGRICULTURE IN POLAND

Abstract The research objective of this article is to review the transformations taking place in ministries related to the agricultural sector. In order to achieve this objective, the following research methods were used: the institutional-legal method and the historical method. The research revealed that the first Polish agricultural ministry was the Ministry of Agriculture and Crown Estates, established in 1917/1918. The most significant transformations of agricultural ministries took place at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s and in the sixth decade of the 20th century. The transformations that took place at that time were primarily due to ideological reasons. This period of constant change was followed by the most stable period. From the 1950s to the 1980s, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Food Industry and Procurement functioned continuously. The former existed for about three decades and is still the longest continuously operating agricultural ministry in Polish history. The current Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which has been in existence for about 26 years and is still relevant today, has a chance to break this record.
