TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE EDITORIAL IN SPECIALISED PRESS: THE CASE OF TEXTS FROM THE MONTHLY “PIŁKA NOŻNA PLUS”

Abstract TThe article analyses editorials (also referred to as editorial commentaries, introductory articles, or leading editorials) published in the now-defunct monthly magazine Piłka Nożna Plus between 2004 and 2013. Their author was Adam Godlewski, who during the period under consideration served as the journal’s secretary and deputy editor-in-chief. A cross-sectional analysis of more than 100 texts, focusing on potential transformations in characteristic genre signals, demonstrated that over the course of nearly a decade most elements underwent change, while some remained stable. The article concludes that, despite the dynamically changing reality—including transformations in the form and function of media messages—the traditional press editorial continues to constitute an interesting subject of scholarly inquiry and should not be excluded from further academic research.
