Abstract The global innovation landscape is changing rapidly due to the growing importance of digitalization, intangible investment and the emergence of China. The purpose of the article is to present the specifics of economic and political rivalry of states with power status. Globalisation of financial flow, increase of amount of foreign investors; expansion of global localisation of production- all of this creates new conditions for changes containing the level of economy and politics. In developed countries, liberal democracy will be given a "test the strength" in the twenty-first century. She is exposed to strong megatrends such as: globalization and digital revolution. These megatrends generate and release a very serious internal and external conflicts. Liber democracy or will be able to quickly change their bodies so that they could face the megatrends twenty-first century, or fall prey to a new variety of authoritarianism, or digital tyranny over 20-30 years.
